Israel said its forces began attacking the Nur Shams refugee camp on Friday morning, “neutralizing 10 terrorists” and arresting eight. The Islamic Jihad militant group said three members were killed.

The Tulkarm Brigades, which includes many Palestinian factions, said its fighters exchanged fire with Israeli forces on Saturday.

At least three drones were seen hovering over the Noor Shams refugee camp, and Israeli armored vehicles entered the camp. The media reporters heard gunshots and saw bodies in the streets and houses destroyed by Israeli drones.

The Israeli army said the fighting lasted for more than 40 hours, and eight soldiers and one policeman were injured. Palestinian authorities said a teenage boy died from a gunshot wound during an Israeli attack on a refugee camp on Friday.

The Palestinian Ministry of Health confirmed to the media that 11 people were injured in the attack, and seven were “wounded by bullets.” The Ministry of Health said a medical worker was shot while trying to resuscitate the injured.

The Ministry of Health said that medical staff was informed that “some people in the refugee camp were killed and injured,” but the Israeli army did not allow them to care for the wounded. The media reporter confirmed that he saw the wounded.

The journalist said the gunshots were heard, and soldiers went door-to-door searching. The Israeli military says it frequently attacks Palestinian militants, but civilians are often affected.

Another Palestinian ambulance driver was killed near the village of Al-Sawiya, south of the city of Nablus, while trying to evacuate the wounded injured by an Israeli settler attack.

The Palestinian Health Ministry said the 50-year-old driver was killed by Israeli gunfire. The Israeli army had no comment.

Israel attacks Rafah

An Israeli airstrike on Gaza’s southernmost city of Rafah late Friday killed nine people, including six children, hospital authorities said Saturday.

The international community has called on Israel to show restraint on Rafah, and Israel has so far refrained from attacking the city. Nor has Israel backed down from its initial attack on Rafah. Israel says many remaining Hamas militants are hiding there.

U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken said at a press conference at the G7 meeting in Italy on Friday that the Biden administration “cannot support a major military operation against Rafah.”

He said a major military operation against Rafah would have “dire consequences” for the civilians remaining there.

Blinken said, “First of all, there are about 1.4 million people in Rafah right now, many of whom have been expelled from other areas of Gaza. It is important that people can escape any conflict, and doing so is a major undertaking, and we have not seen a plan.

Authorities at Al-Aqsa Martyrs Hospital in Deir al-Balah said another attack hit a house in the Bureji refugee camp in central Gaza, killing at least one person and wounding two others. Associated Press reporters witnessed the casualties.

The Hamas-run Gaza Health Ministry said on Saturday that the bodies of 37 people killed in Saturday’s Israeli attack had been brought to Gaza hospitals, while another 68 wounded had been brought to hospitals in the past 24 hours.

The total number of Palestinian deaths caused by the Israel-Kazakhstan war thus rose to at least 34,049, with 76,901 injured. The Hamas-run health ministry said two-thirds of the dead were women and children.

According to Israeli data, Hamas launched a terrorist attack on Israel on October 7, killing about 1,200 people, and Israel launched an offensive in response. The militants also took about 250 people hostage. Hamas has been designated a terrorist organization by the United States, the United Kingdom, the European Union, and other countries.
