Human Rights Day is celebrated annually around the world on 10 December every year.

As we celebrate the 75th anniversary of Human Rights Day in 2023, the significance of this day resonates more than ever.

The origins of this pivotal day can be traced back to 1948, when the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR).

The theme for Human Rights Day 2023 is ‘Consolidating and Sustaining Human Rights Culture into the Future.’

In 2004, International Human Rights Day was officially recognized by the International Humanist and Ethical Union (IHEU).

South Africa commemorates this day on March 21. This date holds significance as it acknowledges the Sharpeville massacre in 1960

India was elected to the UNSC for the sixth time in 2021. India will remain its member till 2024.
