Iran explosions: Dozens of people are reported killed in ‘terrorist attacks’ near the grave of Iranian Guard commander Soleimani during the ceremony

Iran explosions:

Iranian state television reported the first and then the second explosion during an anniversary event at the cemetery where Soleimani is buried in the south-eastern city of Kerman.
According to Iranian state media, the blasts took place at a ceremony to commemorate top commander Qassem Soleimani, who was killed in a US drone strike four years ago.

Iran explosions hit the cemetery where Iranian spy Qassem Soleimani is buried in Iran on Wednesday, killing dozens, state media reported, a day after a drone strike killed several Hamas officials in a suburb of Beirut. Later the tension in the area increased further. , Lebanon.
“The explosions were caused by terrorist attacks,” state media quoted a local official in Kerman province as saying. Iran’s emergency services spokesman Babak Yektaparast later said that 73 people were killed and 170 injured.

Tasnim News and IRNA, both semi-official Iranian news agencies, quoted security officials as saying that the Iran explosion was being investigated as a terrorist attack, but no suspects had been identified.

The blasts in Kerman, Iran, came four years after a US drone strike killed General Soleimani, the longtime commander of the Iranian Revolutionary Guards Corps’ powerful Quds Force, at Baghdad airport.

State media accounts gave varying death tolls, but IRNA had the highest number, reporting that 53 people were killed. Tasnim said 50 people were taken to medical centers, and the area was evacuated after the two Iran explosions, which occurred minutes apart at the crowded cemetery. IRNA and Fars News, another semiofficial news agency, said 71 people were injured.

General Soleimani was hailed as a hero for his creation of a network of regional militias led by Tehran in parts of Iran and the wider region that countered the United States and Israel throughout the Middle East, and he Enjoying near-mythic status among supporters. -Iranian Government.

That network also included Hamas, the military and political group that controls Gaza, as well as Hezbollah, the armed political group that dominates much of Lebanon. Hezbollah is clashing with Israeli forces on Lebanon’s southern border, while Hamas is fighting Israel in Gaza.

Hamas, Lebanese and US officials blamed Israel for the attack in Lebanon on Tuesday that killed Saleh al-Arouri, a senior Hamas deputy and skilled tactician. Those who died in Iran on Wednesday have not yet been identified.

Suspicion for both attacks immediately fell on Israel, although Israeli officials denied responsibility for Tuesday’s attack and had no immediate comment on Wednesday’s events in Iran (Iran explosion).
